Fair Book 2008 / Schedule of Events March 24-29, 2008

7 p.m.: Queen & Princess Press Conference, Loop 288, Extension office, Denton

9 a.m.: Set up pens, equipment, & Prepare grounds for the arrival of animals and projects. All chapters and clubs are expected to assist with the set-up, as well as the clean-up following the show.
8 – 8:45 a.m.: Horse show arrival and check-in NTSF Grounds.
9 a.m.: Horse Show - NTSF Grounds
7 p.m.: Queen & Princess Dinner & Scholarship Presentation
– Exhibit Hall, NTSF Grounds

7 – 11 a.m.: Arrival of market goats. Late entries for breeding meat goats will be accepted until 11:00am. Breeding goats may be entered from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with late fee.
8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Weigh-in of market goats
2 p.m.: Breeding Goat Show followed by market goats- Show arena
** Release of non-placing animals after show and breeding goats following show
5 p.m.: Public Speaking Contest

7 – 10 a.m.: Arrival of market sheep and arrival of breeding sheep - late due by 11:00 a.m.
8 – 10 a.m.: Weigh in sheep
6 – 12 noon: Arrival of market swine. Arrival and late entries of breeding swine due till noon.
8 – 12 noon: Weigh in market swine
2 p.m.: Breeding Sheep Show followed by the Market Sheep Show
**Release of non-placing market / breeding sheep following shows.
3:30 – 6:30 p.m.: Arrival and check-in of Home Economics projects and Environmental Science projects - Exhibit Building
4 – 9 p.m.: Arrival / registration of shop projects — asphalt area by stage, between livestock barns and exhibit hall

7 – noon: Arrival of prospect steers, market steers, breeding heifers
8:00 a.m.: Judging of Home Ec department
8 – 9:30 a.m.: Arrival / check-in of market broilers
8:30 – 11 a.m.: Weigh-in of steers. LATE breeding entries close at 10:30.
10 a.m.: Broiler show - Show arena
9 – 11:30 a.m.: Tractor Driving entries due in office
1 p.m.: Tractor Driving Contest – south of Rodeo arena
1 – 2 p.m.: Breeding beef – paper check
2 p.m.: Breeding swine show followed by the Market Swine show – Show arena.
**Release of non-placing market swine and breeding swine following show
3 p.m.: Livestock Judging entries due in livestock office
3 p.m.: Exhibit Bldg open for viewing of Home Ec, Environmental, and Horticulture entries.
4 p.m.: Shop project judging – lawn of Fair Hall
4 p.m.: Queen / Princess personality contest – Fair Hall
6 p.m.: Queen / Princess beauty contest – Show Arena

9 a.m.: Steer judging followed by prospect steer judging followed by breeding beef judging – Show arena
**Release of non-placing animals and breeding animals following show
9 – 11 a.m.: Arrival / check-in market and breeding rabbits
11:00 a.m.: Rabbit showmanship
11:30 a.m.: Market rabbit show followed by Breeding rabbit show – Fair Hall
**Release of non-placing animals and breeding animals following the show
4:30 p.m.: Livestock Judging Contest
5 – 6 p.m.: Release of all Home Economics entries. Any projects not picked up on time will be disposed of.
Release of Environmental project. Unclaimed projects are not the responsibility of the DCLA.

8:30 – 10 a.m.: Turn-in time for tickets and money for Queen / Princess contestants at Weldon’s Saddle Shop at corner of Bell & E Hickory, Denton
11 – 12:15 p.m.: Silent Auction, Exhibit Bldg
11 – 12:30 p.m.: Buyers’ Barbeque, Exhibit Bldg
12:30 p.m.: Auction Sale & awards
3 p.m.: Release of shop projects
7 p.m.: Rodeo / Announcement of 2008 DCLA Youth Fair and Rodeo Queen and Princess.
